Classroom: 03-16-07 Questions

03-16-07 Larry

Pass on what you already know to somebody who doesn’t know, and see if you feel refreshed. Find a way to talk to somebody about the truths you’re learning in this school. You need to do that.

Clark’s commentary – written in the late 1700’s
Matthew Henry – opposite side from Clark on the Predestination issue.

Read a commentary last, scripture first. I like to read commentaries of people who do not live in my generation. Why? Because I believe that every generation has its blind spots – things we don’t see because we’re too close to it. Previous generations have had their blind spots, and we can see those things right away – but we can’t see our blind spots because we’re too close to them. It’s like the Sears Tower. The closer you get to it, the harder it is to see. You have to look at it from a distance to see it clearly, otherwise there are things in the way.

1. Bible is the primary source of wisdom, knowledge, and revelation today. God has given it to us and He knew that we would need it to go to. God has given us this light as a primary source of guidance in this world of darkness.
2. Creation is another source of revelation and truth. It’s in nature everywhere! And most importantly, it’s in humans. Humans are the pinnacle of creation. When God says that all of creation is good, He created man and said “very good!” – so you can find truth about God in humans, the way we communicate and act and choose, our intellect and other things. This is why you see people using stories about our own lives, because it’s truth.
3. Personal experience is another source of revelation and truth.

Does the truth of the Bible apply to everyone?

1 Corinthians 10:23
All things lawful, not all things profitable.

1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1
